    Oakeys Worst session ever

    Wed, Jul 29, 2009 at 5:17 PM

    Hello everyone.

I went to see Oakenfold on the 24th of this month, Madona tour. It was on thursday and me and my friends were all having to work the next day. Oakenfold was booked for three hour set. It was the first time ever to perform in Spain's capital Madrid.

His set was absoultely mediocre. Being one of my all time favourites I would rate it as crap compared to what I could expect from him. He spent the majority of the session giving his back to the crowd and talking to people behind the booth. Total disinterest on his part that showed. Not only that, a brief 45minutes the light went on signaling that his set was about to finish and that the club was closing. He finished his set at exactly 60minutes and waved once to the crowd and started posing and taking photos with people behid the stage and paying no attention to the crowd.

Very disapointed. Ive seen him perform a number of times and never was I so let down.

Im trying to find some sense to it all. I have been confirmed the fact that his agency had signed him up for a 3 hour set. I mean if they told me that Oakenfold, I dont know, was drunk and not feeling tha well or admited to having a bad day, or something to acknoledge the fact that things are not supposed to be like that.

It reminds me of Guns and Roses when I was a little child. The first time they came to Madrid (and only I think), they where probably drunk or something like that, and they arrived one hour late and made a crappy concert with no extra songs. Axel Rose normally changed a few times wardrobe and acted out the songs quite well in other shows, yet in this one you could see him just wearing whatever he had been wearing that day and not puting any energy into the gig. Taste of reality.

Ive enjoyed Oakeys music so much until now that if someone were to tell me anything to justify him I would do my best to believe him.

What eveyone is saying on musical forums is that he was drunk, arrived more than one hour late, made one of his buddies dj before him, had more interest in having a laugh with his friends that were dancing behind the dj booth than actually dj'ing, signed for 3 hours dj'ed 1, horrible set, he couldnt care less if we were disapointed...

    RE: Oakeys Worst session ever

To the fans that attended the recent club show in Madrid, it’s a tremendous shame that this night was reduced to a complete and utter debacle, due to the unprofessional nature of a promoter falsely advertising the details of my scheduled performance and acting outside the guidelines of the established contract. These hindrances led to me being unable to begin my performance at the scheduled time and my set time being reduced from 2 hours to 90 minutes. I was never scheduled to perform for 3 hours as the advertising had implied. For those of you that were in attendance, you witnessed the 15 dancers who were placed directly in front of the DJ Booth, with a lack of regard for the performance and against my will. I am truly let down by the organizers of this event and sympathize with those of you who were misguided by the information they provided. I wish that there is something I could do to make it up to you but unfortunately it is a situation that is out of my hands. My apologies go out to the fans and thank you for your support in this matter. - Paul
